AUSTERLITZ DEMOCRATS CHOOSE CANDIDATES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, AUSTERLITZ DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE

Contact: Eileen Fusco, Chair

AUSTERLITZ DEMOCATIC COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES
SLATE FOR NOVEMBER 2013 LOCAL ELECTION

Today, Austerlitz Democratic Committee Chairwoman Eileen Fusco announced the Democratic slate for November’s local elections:  “Austerlitz Democrats selected a well qualified and bi-partisan slate of men and women who stand ready to work together and lead the town of Austerlitz forward.  I am proud to announce the following candidates for office: Robert Lagonia for Town Supervisor, Greg Vogler for Town Board, Susan Haag for Town Clerk/Tax Collector, Bobby Meehan for Highway Superintendent, and Sharon Grubin for Town Justice.”

“Rob Lagonia has a unique combination of experience in private business and public service, and I am confident Rob will bring the same level of professionalism to the town board as he did to the Town court, where he served for many years.  Greg Vogler has spent almost 30 years as an auditor and will bring his audit disciplines of fact based questions, unbiased analysis and inclusive, cost conscious solutions to Town board decisions.  The Committee also unanimously crossed endorsed Susan Haag in recognition of her outstanding service as Town Clerk.” Fusco continued.

“I am pleased to announce our support of Sharon Grubin for Town Justice.  As an attorney and former federal court judge, Sharon has the experience and knowledge necessary to ensure that Austerlitz town court continues to operate with the same professionalism the Town has come to expect of its judges.  Bobby Meehan is the incumbent Highway Superintendent and was selected again by the Austerlitz Democrats for re-election.” said Fusco.

Democratic County Committee Chair, Cyndy Hall, who attended the caucus along with Virginia Martin, Democratic Commissioner for the County's Board of Elections, stated at the end: "The Democratic process worked well today in Austerlitz. Although you had some difficult issues to work out, the caucus process was followed, everyone had their say and people were treated with respect. It was a pleasure to see democracy in action."

Election Day is November 5, 2013.  For more information or to complete an absentee ballot please email the Austerlitz Democratic Committee at AusterlitzDemocraticCommittee@gmail.com.

AUSTERLITZ DEMOCRATS CAUCUS is this SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7 at 1PM in the TOWN HALL

Hello Friends and Fellow Democrats:

Reminder: The Austerlitz Democratic Committee will caucus this coming Saturday September 7 at 1 pm in the Austerlitz Town Hall.  At the caucus we will choose our candidates for the November election.  Candidate nominations for Town Supervisor, the Town Board and Highway Supervisor will be made there and voted on by any registered Austerlitz Democrat.  We hope all registered Democrats in our town take the time to attend so their voices can be heard and their votes counted for the candidates of their choice.

Please come!   And......

Events:  We are planning two major events.  Please mark your calendars for these as well.  The first event we'll hold on Sunday, September 22.  Then, on Saturday, November 2, we'll have another great chili bake-off.  Location and time to follow.  Come join the candidates at these events.  We'll need volunteers too.  So please let us know if you can help.  These events can't go on without good volunteers like yourselves!

Fundraising:  Thank you to the several people who have donated to us in the last few months.  But much more money is needed.   So, please send a donation to Austerlitz Democrats, PO Box 266, Spencertown, NY 12165. The donations are not tax deductible, but are very much appreciated.
